How does qualifying for EURO 2025 work?
A new qualifying format was introduced for Euro 2025.
Teams were put into three leagues (A, B and C) depending on their performance in the Nations League.
These leagues were split into groups (1, 2, 3, 4) which competed in a qualifier round (that round has now finished).
The winner and runner-up from League A groups and hosts Switzerland (League B) go through automatically.
After the group games, 28 teams progress to the playoffs. There, they’ll play two rounds of playoff games.
The teams are split into two paths for the first round, played over two legs, home and away. The winners (14 teams) progress to the second leg of the playoffs.
The winners of path one, play the winners of path two in the second round.
Whoever wins those matches will take the final seven places in the Euro 2025 finals.
We've left some notes below to explain which group positions progress to the playoffs.
