How did qualifying for EURO 2025 work?
A new qualifying format was introduced for Euro 2025.
Teams were put into three leagues (A, B and C) depending on their performance in the Nations League.
These leagues were split into groups (1, 2, 3, 4) which competed in a qualifier round.
The winner and runner-up from League A groups and hosts Switzerland (League B) went through automatically.
After the group games, 28 teams progressed to the playoffs. There, they played two rounds of playoff games.
The teams were split into two paths for the first round, played over two legs, home and away. The winners (14 teams) progressed to the second leg of the playoffs.
The winners of path one, played the winners of path two in the second round.
Whoever won those matches took the seven final places in the Euro 2025 finals.
